Q&A: Is the Bulldog Valve Robot not strong enough, as some reviews suggest? The motor in the Bulldog is quite strong, but the valve must be in good working order. It should move smoothly requiring no force to close, otherwise and particularly combined with a poor installation, can prevent the Bulldog from operating properly.
Do the brackets come loose or does it move during operation, indicating a design problem? The Bulldog design is exceptionally good. The brackets should be tightened to the valve, not to the pipe, and not tightened to the round end of the valve, else it will slip. We have updated our user documentation to make this very clear.
What tools and skills are needed to install the Bulldog? You will need a medium Phillips screwdriver. The valve controller for it will require a couple screws in the wall - that may require a drill. If you know how to use a screwdriver, and are willing to read the installation manual, you'll be fine!
What is meant by "poor installation"? The Bulldog is a bolt-on product, it does have a couple parts that have to be properly assembled and aligned to the ball valve. Most support requests we get are from very simple things like a loose screw, or the instructions were not followed.
Should I get the Bulldog or a motorized valve? A motorized valve will always be superior to a bolt-on valve operator/manipulator, even one as nice as the Bulldog. We are here for you if you have any questions not answered by our information.
